Hello everyone, I hope you had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! I'm
emailing you to call your attention to the special events occuring in June
for which we need help.

Commencing with the first weekend in June is the Scales and Tails Fest at
the Indiana State Museum. This event is the kick-off weekend for a special
traveling exhibit, Pets in America, featured at the museum June 3rd through
August 6th. It is a unique opportunity for us to capture an audience that
we do not reach with our recurring events and a huge audience at that:
projections are attendance of 250,000 for the run of the exhibit. There
will be many rescue groups represented throughout the run of this exhibit.
We will also have a presence at the museum for the following themed
weekends, so mark your calender now: Patriotic Pets and Working Animals
Weekend, July 1, 11am to 4pm; Pets and Vets, July 22, 11am to 4pm, July 23,
12pm to 4pm; and rounding out the event, Dogs - The Great and the Small,
August 5. 11am to 4pm, August 6, 12pm to 4pm. Hoosiers Helping Homeless
Pets helped set up the guidelines for volunteer organizations participating
in this event and they are as follows: To participate in these events all
animals must be spayed or neutered, go through an on-site health check which
determines whether the animal may participate, and have current Rabies, DHPP
and Bordatella at least 3 days prior to the event. Please bring your dog's
vaccination records with you. Also no retractable leashes are allowed. The
first weekend we will be on the lawn but subsequent weekends we will be in
the great hall of the museum. And last but not least, free parking for
volunteers!

The following weekend, Saturday June 10, 11:30am to 1:30pm, is the
University of Indianapolis alumni reunion picnic. These folks alway take
good care of us as they love to see real life representations of their
mascot, and a complimentary meal is provided for our volunteers. Live stage
entertainment is provided by, appropriately enough, the band "Dog Talk." In
addition to volunteers, a host is needed for this event with a kit, as this
is the saturday of my recurring Petsmart event. If interested, please
volunteer early as the amount of volunteers is limited.

And on Saturday June 24th there are 2 events in which volunteers are needed:
The Greenwood Old Towne Street Fair where we share a booth with 2 of our
participating veterinarians, Drs. Eric and Anndrea Kapke. Hours are 9am to
4pm and features 80 merchants, food, games, crafts, live entertainment and
parades, just to name a few!
The other event is "Let Meet in the Park" presented by WFYI, featuring meet
and greets with famous PBS characters, bounce houses, face painting,
interactive play stations, educational activities, festival food, nonstop
stage entertainment and much more. Last year's attendance was 150,000 and
admission is free. Hours are 10am to 4pm.

I hope you will consider volunteering at the special events occuring this
summer and don't forget we alway need help at the recurring events as well.
