Sunday Morning, our beautiful boy G (steel blue gaze) Slipped out of this
world to be with his Ren, who no doubt has been waiting on the other side of
the bridge for her beloved friend. He had been suffering from a severe case
of (CIT and IMHA) blood platelet loss with signs that he was bleeding into
his joints and his abdomen. We had been spending days trying to save him by
pushing steroid pills and antibiotics round the clock, but by Sunday he was
showing signs of hemorrhage and we realized that his suffering was greater
than our selfish need to hold him to this world. At then end I cradled him
in my arms as he slipped away, telling him how very much he was loved.

I want to take the time to thank all of GPAindy and all those involved for
introducing us to this wonderful boy, whose love and affection knew no
bounds. The first sight of this massive grey carting his stuffy from room to
room as a security blanket touched us deeply. For the rest of his life, he
would cart that ragged little stuffy with him wherever he went, resisting
the brighter newer toys in favor of his ba-ba. Although not the fastest or
the bravest of our greys, he was the gentlest soul, preferring to lay his
head on the nearest lap, uttering a contented sigh. He was our rock and our
steady companion, and he will be missed more than words can say. Our little
jester Emma is wandering lost, a "mutt" without her "Jeff" and will no doubt
feel the loss as keenly as us. 

 

Once again, I want to thank the tireless effort of all those involved in
rescuing and fostering these gentle creatures, as without you we would not
have known the quirky humor and quiet affection of this gentle giant hound.
