Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good holiday weekend! We have several events coming up that still need volunteers. If you haven't been on the website recently to check out the upcoming events, please do so. The most pressing need is for the Heartnut Heritage Festival September 12th/13th in Edinburgh, and A Dog Day Afternoon in the Arts and Design District in Carmel, on September 13th. Thanks to Roman and Linda Chang of Carmel Antique Mall for sponsoring the GPA Indianapolis booth at A Dog Day Afternoon!
Also, it's that time of year for the fall festivals, and we have many of those on the calendar, ranging in length from one day (Quaker Day, Avon Heritage Fest, Barktoberfest) to four days, (Martinsville Fall Foliage Festival) as well as a new national event at Petsense in Edinburgh called "Home Now!" which occurs October 3rd/4th. While we encourage everyone to volunteer, whether you are fostering or not, we really need a good turnout of fosters for this event. GPA Indy will receive a $100 donation from Petsense for our participation in this two day event, and it doesn't usually work that way, folks!
While it's still a ways off, it will be here before you know it; everyone's favorite event, the 60th Annual Indianapolis Christmas Gift and Hobby Show which is now on the calendar!
We had such fun on the Hound Hike last Sunday on the Indianapolis Canal that we're planning another one for Saturday, October 31st. (Weather permitting, if it's raining, we'll cancel!) Costumes optional, but if it's cold, bundle up those greyhounds! Plan to arrive at the location of our dog drops across from Johnson Controls between 2:00 - 2:30 pm and we will set off for the Canal at 2:30.
And of course, don't forget the picnic!

Thanks, Sharon
