Since it has taken me about this long to stop crying (and so might damage my computer keyboard), I just wanted to memorialize him for one small moment. Ralph was the first grey placed from a former local rescue, Greyhound Companions in 1998. He was neatly matched with us as a "beta" dog, willing to get along with our "alpha" old female husky. After we lost her, we got a second, bounceback grey from Life After Racing (Bruce and Katie McDonald) and so grew our love affair with hounds. Since then we've kept two of our other fosters and I believe have had 10 fosters total over these years. Fireman just joined Dixie last month as an official family member. Ralph lived to the long earned age of 14 1/2, and even in his difficult, senior state he always gave us such a beautiful sense of calm by his presence or just the touch of those incredible ears. We miss him terribly and thank you for the empathy we know you feel in reading this. Ralph was my darling and I hope he's chasing bunnies and napping in the sun over the rainbow bridge with all your passed hounds as buddies. Best, Wendy, Stu and Rob Bowes Dixie and Fireman]
